About This Place

Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Chicago’s Lakeview East, AMORE Sushi House offers a refined and inviting Japanese dining experience that effortlessly combines classic sushi craftsmanship with a welcoming, low-lit atmosphere perfect for intimate dinners and casual gatherings alike.

Specializing in sushi and sashimi, AMORE Sushi House keeps the essence of traditional Japanese flavors alive while catering to a broad spectrum of tastes. Guests rave about their extensive menu, which features standout items such as the succulent Spider Roll with fresh, crispy soft-shell crab, the elegantly presented Sashimi Deluxe — ideal for party groups wanting a beautifully arranged 15-piece experience, and the delightfully rich Dynamite Roll. For those seeking lighter, refreshing options, the Unagi Cucumber and the vibrant Veggie Lover Maki showcase the kitchen’s commitment to fresh, high-quality ingredients.

The menu doesn't stop at sushi. Hot appetizers like the savory Takoyaki—battered octopus balls drizzled with Japanese mayo and sprinkled with bonito flakes—and the delicate Chicken Gyoza provide comforting, flavor-packed starts to the meal. Vegetarians will find solace in dishes like the Asparagus Maki and Vegetable Gyoza, ensuring everyone leaves satisfied.

AMORE Sushi House also excels in complementing your meal with traditional Japanese sides such as warm, lightly salted Edamame or spicy variations, as well as classic soups like Miso Soup. The dedication to authentic flavors shows in every bite, from the fresh Super White Tuna Nigiri to the house specialty Cubs Roll, a fan favorite loaded with an enticing variety of fish, appealing even to the most discerning palates.

Dessert enthusiasts will appreciate the delicate sweetness of their Mochi Ice Cream available in mango, green tea, and strawberry flavors, or the luscious Matcha Crepe Cake, a layered Japanese-style green tea delight that rounds off the meal with finesse.

What truly sets AMORE Sushi House apart is the blend of a laid-back yet intimate ambiance with attentive, friendly service. Diners often mention the moody lighting and thoughtfully plated dishes that not only taste wonderful but also please the eye. The restaurant feels like a hidden gem where you can savor high-quality sushi without pretense.

Regular patrons appreciate the generous portion sizes and value, often highlighting tempting promotions like the buy-two-get-one-free roll deal, which invites guests to sample a variety of rolls without hesitation. The inviting atmosphere, combined with a menu that caters to all preferences—including ample vegetarian options—makes AMORE Sushi House a reliable choice for both sushi veterans and newcomers alike.

Whether you’re indulging in the rich, tropical presentation of their sashimi platters, enjoying a comforting bowl of warm Yakisoba, or exploring unique items like the tuna tartare with wonton chips, AMORE Sushi House promises a genuine taste of Japan enhanced by genuine hospitality. The sushi here is generally decent and a good option for a neighborhood bite. During our visit, however, many items from the Special Nigiri menu (Amaebi, Chu-Toro, Otoro, Uni) were unavailable, and we ultimately opted for the Hotate and Sashimi Deluxe. While the quality was solid, nothing stood out as exceptional, though the tropical presentation of the sashimi was a nice touch.

Great sushi and awesome deals. We were able to get the buy two get one roll free deal which was great. Portions are very large, which is a huge bonus! Large menu and everything comes out exactly as advertised. Chicago cubs roll was great and was loaded with different types of fish! Tuna tartare was good and very unique with wonton chips. Glad to have tried it!

Great selection of sushi! Many vegetarian options, and food is always plated in a pretty way. Low lighting / moody atmosphere, great for a quiet dinner or date. Love coming here.

Very delicious food! I had the Veggie Monster Rolls, the Oshinko Maki, and hot green tea. Although the tea was more room temperature then hot, the Veggie rolls were very delicious! My sister had their Tofu Yakisoba and Avocado rolls and they both were very good as well. Our waitress was very nice and the atmosphere was great. Definitely would recommend this place to try.

A nice little escape from the hustle and bustle of them all, this is a hidden gem. The food and the service were equivalent to any tea house. As vegetarians, we were very pleased with the clear demarcation of meatless options in the menu.

Over the past couple of months (Nov-Dec 2022), we have had amazing experiences dining in, takeout, and delivery. The sushi is very fresh, the portions are generous. Grilled items are perfectly done: our favorite, Salmon Teriyaki Bowl, has the fish cooked just right, juicy and flavorful. The dine-in service is the most attentive we have ever experienced: the owner, Ron, came up to introduce himself, made food recommendations, and checked in on us periodically. He somehow remembered everyone in our party by name! The atmosphere is very cozy and modern. Highly recommended!
